Pro Model Self-Host license terms#
This page summarises the license for Pro Model Self-Host, the background removal model you run on your own infrastructure. It is a plain-language overview, not the contract: the signed License Agreement and Order Form are what bind, and we send the full text with your quote.
At a glance#
| License | Perpetual. It doesn't expire and has no renewal. |
|---|---|
| Fee | One-off flat fee. Price on request. |
| Updates | Every version released in the 12 months after delivery. Each one is yours to keep, also perpetually. |
| Support | By email, in English, for the same 12 months. |
| Where it runs | Only on infrastructure you control. It isn't shipped to your users' devices. |
| Who can buy | Businesses only. |
| Law | German law. Courts in Berlin. |
What you can do#
- Run it anywhere you control: on-premise servers, your own cloud accounts, and your staff's computers and phones.
- Use it in your own work: process images for your business, at any volume.
- Build it into your product: offer background removal as a feature of your own product, for example in your web service, as long as the model runs on your infrastructure.
- Work with others: contractors may run it on your behalf, and affiliates named in the Order Form may use it too. You stay responsible for both.
Your infrastructure only#
Every copy of the model stays on infrastructure you control. You can't ship it to your users' devices, for example inside a mobile, desktop or browser app. Your users reach its features through your product, running on your side. If you need it on your users' devices, that takes a separate written agreement: contact us.
What's not allowed#
- A competing service. You can't offer background removal, matting or segmentation to others as a standalone product. A background removal feature inside your e-commerce platform, asset manager or photo app is fine. Reselling the model, a white-label product, or an API or SDK whose main value is background removal is not.
- Sharing or selling the model. No passing it on, publishing it or sublicensing it.
- Training other models. No training, fine-tuning or distilling another model on the model, its weights or its outputs.
- Reverse engineering. No extracting the weights, architecture or training methods, except where German copyright law allows it.
Acceptable use#
You, and your users through your product, may not use the model to create or edit:
- child sexual abuse material or any sexual content involving minors;
- non-consensual intimate images;
- deceptive images of real people used for fraud, impersonation, harassment, defamation or election manipulation;
- content that infringes other people's rights, including copyright and privacy;
- anything else that is unlawful where you or your users are.
Your images and outputs#
- Nothing is sent to withoutBG. The model runs on your side and has no telemetry, so we never see your images and no data processing agreement is needed.
- You own the outputs. We claim no rights in your images or the results.
- No usage tracking. Once a year, on request, you confirm in writing that you use the model within the license and list the products it is in.
When the license ends#
Only for a serious breach, such as running a competing service, leaking the model or reselling it. In that case you stop using the model and delete every copy.
